Surgical anatomy for transoral endoscopic thyroid surgery through vestibular approach (TOETVA)
Abstract
Transoral endoscopic thyroid surgery through vestibular approach (TOETVA) is well accepted by patients and doctors because of its minimal invasion, excellent cosmetic effect and superiority for level VI/VII lymph node dissection. It has considerable prospection and has been applied in treatment of benign thyroid diseases and follicular thyroid tumors including suitable differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC). To better understand the procedure of TOETVA and its key points, the anatomy from transoral vision should be mastered first of all. Previous studies have demonstrated the anatomical feature of transoral thyroidectomy on animals and cadavers. Here, we are to summarize our experience of transoral thyroidectomy on human from the vision of clinical anatomy.
